Professional law services for Acadiana

Richard J. "Joe" Guidry focuses his practice
primarily in the area of maritime law, products
liability, automobile accidents and medical
malpractice.

The Experience You Need
Since June, 2000, Joe has devoted his practice solely
to representing persons injured through the negligence
of others. From 1988 to May 2000, Joe spent the
majority of his practice in the defense of oil companies,
drilling contractors, vessel operators, manufacturers,
and insurance companies.

During these twelve years, Joe handled and worked on
hundreds of maritime cases and acquired valuable
knowledge of how companies investigate casualties and
evaluate cases. He has investigated numerous offshore
casualties, including the
investigation of several
oilfield-related deaths. His experience will prove an
invaluable asset in seeking compensation and winning your legal claim.

Recognized as an Expert Attorney
Joe has been asked several times to present papers and to make presentations to his
colleagues in the various areas in which he practices. In
September, 2001, he
presented a paper and spoke at the Ninth Annual Admiralty Symposium of the
Louisiana State Bar Association (September,
2001) on the topic: Accidents Occurring
On and Around Fixed Offshore
Platforms: the Interplay Between Federal, State and
Maritime Law. In
November, 2002, Joe was requested to present a paper and speak
at the
2002 Medical Malpractice Seminar of the Louisiana State Bar Association.

Joe has also presented papers and spoken at seminars sponsored by the
Louisiana
Association for Justice on such topics as bar liability for serving
alcohol to underage
drinkers and how to deal with a malingering diagnosis
in a brain injury case.

Joe is currently admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts, the
U.S. Fifth Circuit
Court of Appeals, and all Federal District Courts in
Louisiana. He is a member of the
Louisiana State Bar Association,
American Bar Association, and the Bar Association of
the United States
Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a member of the Louisiana
Trial
Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
